Sweet Peppers Deli Franchise of the Year - Gulfport, MS

During the third annual Sweet Peppers Franchise Systems Conference in Destin, FL, David and Joyce Cadwallader of Coastal Peppers, LLC received the 2009 Franchisee of the Year Award. The Cadwalladers joined Sweet Peppers Franchise Systems opening their first location in Gulfport, MS on February 3, 2009. A franchisee must demonstrate a buy-in the Sweet Peppers Franchise system resulting in consistent growth in the effectiveness of training, operations, marketing and sales.
“We wanted to invest in the System because of the modern, upbeat look of the deli together with freshly prepared and healthy food. It appeals to a large cross section of the community,” states owner, David Cadwallader.
Sweet Peppers Deli is a MS based company with 5 corporate stores in Columbus, Starkville and Tupelo, Mississippi. Bulldog Deli is the flagship which opened in Starkville, MS in 1981. There are currently 19 locations in 5 states and a new development breaking ground in the fall of 2010 in Georgia. Sweet Peppers is a fast causal deli that believes in Making People Happy by consistently providing good food and customer service.
“This is a young dynamic Mississippi Company that we could become involved in. It has a family feeling where corporate support executives are easily accessible and hands on. Having worked in the restaurant and hotel business all our careers we decided we would like to own one,” expressed the Cadwalladers.
The Gulfport store is located in the Acadian Plaza at 12261 Hwy. 49. The store employs 25-30, seats 130 guests and is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
“Our menu favorites are the Panini, the chicken salad sandwich on croissant, the new LiteLine menu and our catering trays are great sellers,” says Joyce Cadwallader.
Future developments in Jackson County include Ocean Springs, Pascagoula, Harrison County and D’Iberville.
